Same-different 1
The students could work in pairs on a same-different task in which each student has a numbered grid, with the boxes in the grids showing pictures of people in a family as in resource sheet 1.7. Get the students to work out which boxes are identical (“he rite”) and which are different (“he rerekē”) by communicating in te reo Māori without showing their grids to each other.
There could be obvious differences. For example, one student could have a picture of a grandmother and the other student could have a picture of a grandfather. To make the task more challenging, the differences could be more subtle. For example, both grids could have a picture of a grandmother, but one could have a moko or a hat.
